Social media marketing has been blowing up the internet for some time now. Many businesses and professionals use social media as a way to connect with their customer base. But what’s in it for you? While it can sometimes be beneficial to follow a more traditional business in the hopes of finding out about offers, deals, and hours, you may not see following your Realtor in the same light. There are actually a lot of good reasons to follow your Realtor on social media, though, that can be just as beneficial for you as it is for them.

1. Get Your Questions Answered

Lots of people turn to the internet and social media to crowd source answers, such as where should I look to get a new apartment or what’s a good neighborhood for kids. And while you can certainly get a lot of responses from your friends and contacts, having a Realtor in your feed can get your some very specific and goal oriented answers. This can cut down on having to wade through the fluff and can actually get you some more positive results.

2. You’ll Get More Detail

Look up your Realtor on YouTube and see if they have a channel. If so, you may find some really detailed videos of the houses they have for sale. So now you can tour the homes in the privacy of your living room or office, and weed out all the ones that you can tell right off the bat won’t work for you. This can save you a lot of time visiting house after house only to discover the layout won’t work or the appliances are too outdated. Realtors making use of social media are often doing it to boost exposure, so you can often find a lot more detail quickly and easily than you could otherwise.

If you’re hunting for a house or apartment, you’ve probably spent hours combing through listings trying to find a few houses to pay a visit to. Realtors have been known to post about things like staging, home values, what to look for, what to avoid, and other tips that can really help you out whether you’re buying or selling a home. By following them, you’ll be getting all kinds of insider information that you might not have learned otherwise. This can help you accomplish your goals faster and with better results.

5.  They’ll Come to You

While email lists aren’t necessarily part of social media, chances are that if you follow your Realtor on any type of site, they’re going to ask you to sign up for their email list. If you do so, you’ll now be getting all that information from new homes on the market to insider tips and tricks delivered right to your inbox. So now all you have to do is sit back and read, rather than spending your time searching for the same thing.

If you’re worried that your Realtor is going to be using social media as a big push to get you to buy or sell, you shouldn’t be. Most Realtors are using social media as a way to get word and information out and to connect with potential new customers by getting their name out in front of as many people as possible.
